Connectivity
Options |
| Multihomed
IP Transit |
Our most popular product is our multihomed
IP Transit. We provide you with the best of
all the connectivity we have around the globe
to give you 100% reliability and the fastest
connection physically possible. Our strength
which makes us different from many other transit
providers lies in our high redundancy and
low latency network. Our network is BGP4 multi
homed with
multiple providers which ensures much greater
reliability than getting connectivity from
just one provider.
C4L have carefully chosen the correct Tier
1 providers with strengths in each part of
the globe. We take away the headache and overhead
of the hardware and admin required to connect
to multiple providers.
Your feed includes NTT Verio, Level3, KPN,
AboveNet transit feeds. We also have agreements
with over 400 ISP's in the UK, Europe and
US to provide your equipment with the optimum
route for their traffic, removing unnecessary
hops. These include NTL, BT, Telewest, Nildram
and many more.
We currently provide Internet connectivity
to over 20,000 servers and machines in the
UK. We also have links into all the major
exchanges such as LIPEX, LONAP, LINX, MANAP,
AMX-IX, BN-IX, GL-IX, NL-IX etc... We also
include peering such as the BBCi
as standard.
Backed by our industry leading network, this
provides you with the optimum solution in
Internet Transit. All connections are a minimum
of 100Mbps burstable as standard. We provide
connections from 1Mbps up to 10Gbps connectivity.
We currently have over 5Gbps of capacity going
into Redbus and we ensure that our network
stays at below 20% capacity. |
| Direct Tier1 IP Transit |

| Network Growth and Stability |
With over 20,000 machines and servers connected
by our network, Connexions4London have helped
1000’s of businesses to succeed. Our
network has grown organically through growth
of customer base, enabling us to remove the

| Hardware and Design |
We use dual vendor Cisco and Foundry Routers
and Switches throughout our network and Foundry
on our MetroRing to ensure the ultimate in
network performance. All our core network
locations have multiple routers and switches
to ensure hardware redundancy. All our switches
run at wire speed and our core routers are
capable of over 20Gbps capacity.
We utilise the Foundry MRP protocol which
provides sub 50ms failover time in the event
of fibre or equipment failure.
Our core routers are distributed across
multiple facilities and floors in the datacenters
to protect against facility downtime. Each
facility has a high power and security SLA.
Every facility also is connected by multiple
connections and is connected to or by our
London MetroRing.
|
| Monitoring |
The Connexions 4 London network is monitored
24x7x365. As soon as a customer’s port
drops or something out of the norm happens
on the network our engineers are notified
immediately via email and SMS. We can instantly
see what that problem is and work to resolve
it.
If a customer’s port does drop or
starts recording errors, then they will
be notified as soon as possible to let them
know they have a problem with their connection.
We will then work with the customer to see
if it is a problem at their end or a problem
on the port. If it is their end, we can
then help them to get their equipment back
online.
We can offer an additional monitoring service
where the customer is notified immediately
via SMS of any problems on their port.
|
| Support |
Carriers and customers are provided with
business hour customer support numbers and
out of hour 24x7x365 engineer support numbers

are tracked online in our support ticketing
system and enabling Connexions4London to respond
effectively and efficiently. |
| Stats |
Each customer is provided with their own
login area, this enables them to see what
their bandwidth and usage patterns look like.
This is updated every 5 minutes and shows
the results for the last day, week, month
and year. It also shows the 95th percentile
billing rates.

Docklands Facility Information |
| Fire Systems |
A fire extinguishing system
has been installed within the equipment rooms
and UPS switch room. The system is FM200.
The fire extinguishing system activates after
two separate fire detection alarms. A smoke
/ gas extract system has been installed to
extract smoke and gas from the floor void
and from the Data centre, discharging directly
to the outside. |
| FM200 Fire Suppressant |
The FM200 Fire suppression system has
been designed, to discharge and fill the
Data centre and power room areas with in
10 seconds. The system consists of numerous
FM200 storage bottles located around the
perimeter of each Data centre and UPS switch
room. |
| Building Management System |
A Building Management System (BMS) has
been installed that can be operated, managed
and monitored from a remote location and
includes monitoring for all equipment (Air
conditioning, generators, UPS etc) including
pipe/duct mounted control equipment e.g.
control valves, temperature sensors, pressure
switches etc. The system has the ability
to allow full remote access through RAS
via modem, ISDN and ASDL. To prevent unauthorised
use, the Remote access system is subject
to a controlled access gateway. |
| CCTV System |
A colour CCTV system is installed throughout,
which covers all external doors and the building
perimeter, plant areas and car park. The system
comprises of a series of covert fixed internal
and external static cameras. (Colour). Pan
/ Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) cameras are positioned
within the car park areas. PTZ dome cameras
are also positioned on the corners of the
building to monitor activity around the building
perimeter and within the car park and plant
areas. Static cameras are also installed externally
to monitor those entering and exiting the
building.
All control equipment is located within
the office area.
|
| Intruder Alarm System |
An intruder alarm system operated and controlled
from the security office control room has
been installed to provide protection to the
perimeter and the building internally. All
areas of the building are protected by PIR’s.
The PIR’s are positioned such to ensure
they are not activated by air conditioning
etc. |
| Air Handling |
The Data centres have been installed with
down flow air conditioning units to maintain
room conditions of 21oc +/- 1oc and 40% to
60% humidity. This temperature / humidity
is maintained by 18 Stultz internal down-flow
units (as in Salford). There are eight units
installed within Data centre room 1 and ten
air conditioning units installed within Data
centre room 2. The UPS Switch room has been
installed with five up-flow air conditioning
units to maintain room conditions as above
Additionally, the Office area is installed
with a compact up-flow air conditioning unit. |
| Generators & UPS |
Two 980KVA generators are supplied via a
14,000 litre diesel tank. The incoming power
supply to the facility is via diverse power
feeds (albeit from the same substation). The
incoming supply is 1750KVA. The supply to
the Data centres is protected and filtered
(Spikes, brown-outs and black-outs) via a
2000kva UPS. |
| Water detection |
The facility is installed with a ‘point’
water detection system around each Air Handling
Unit, these are linked to the BMS system. |
| Intelligent Hands |
Our experienced on-site "Intelligent
Hands" technicians are available 24x7x365
to enable rapid deployment of your kit, or
help you sort out anything from a simple tape
rotation to a complex problem affecting hardware
or software from all major vendors.
Our value for money contracts include 15 minutes*
intelligent service every day. This can be
extendable whenever necessary for a nominal
fee. |
